Gairloch Wildlife Centre
To enhance your marine wildlife experience we run a Wildlife Centre at Gairloch Harbour.
Whether you are taking one of our cruises or just visiting the area you are welcome to browse our exhibits and use our interactive facilities.
Admission is free.
The centre offers informative displays on a wide variety of marine wildlife and computer-based interactive profiles of the different species of whale, dolphin and porpoise found in Hebridean waters, with images and video.
For those interested in sea birds and shore birds there are also computer-based, illustrated profiles of European and North Atlantic species.
The Centre features a large-scale map of the North Minch region, showing land and marine features, migration routes and whale and dolphin hotspots. This is a very popular feature for visitors seeking a better understanding of the geography and ecology of this wonderful environment.
Our aim is to raise awareness of the rich and diverse wildlife habitat which surrounds us, to offer educational facilities and, quite simply, to provide our visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the creatures we encounter on our cruises.
Our experienced and knowledgeable boat Skippers are often available to answer questions, guide you through the exhibits and discuss all aspects of wildlife in the region.
From children to adults, from casual visitors to marine zoology students, there is something here for everyone.
